About Us

Spire House Developments (Spire) is a property developer, operating primarily in the south of England. We strive to build traditional looking new homes with contemporary interior layouts and stylish finishes.

Spire work with a range of partners on new build developments and refurbishments, as well as providing development finance.

A brief history

The company was founded in 2004 by Steve Abbley in a bid to utilise retained profits from other investments and put them to work. Initially specialising in development finance, the company grew to work on partnership arrangements and then managing its own developments entirely. We now work with development partners in a variety of ways and offering an array of services, as well as possessing the capability to manage entire construction projects in-house.

The company evolution has brought about a much more active role in developing, with a particular focus on selling off-plan and trying to involve buyers during the build stage, to increase customer satisfaction and speed up the quantity of projects undertaken.

What We Do

Spire work on a range of projects, such as single house refurbishments, bought at auction, to new home developments of up to forty units. The builders we work with typically have over twenty years’ experience and have produced a range of new build, extensions and conversions to a fantastic standard. We only build a selection of unique and contemporary homes, to a finish that we would expect ourselves if we were buying a home. Every decision taken at planning and design stage revolves around you, the buyer. We strive to maximise space and plan our layouts to suit a modern lifestyle. We also take consultation on all kitchens and bathrooms, and can offer a range of styles to suit.

Spire aim to deliver high quality, traditional style homes with choice, in the simplest manner possible. We’d like to be seen as a friendly and trustworthy, local developer. As part of this aim, we only use quality local tradesman with whom we have built relationships for many years and who continue to work with us today.

Meet the Team

Steve Abbley, Chairman

Steve Abbley Chairman

Steve has previously held positions of finance director, senior vice president and managing director of a multi-national relocation and property services group, before establishing Spire House Developments in 2004. Steve also owns the successful part exchange company, Quick Move Properties and has over 30 years’ experience in the property industry.

Steve’s focus is very much on capital growth, aiming to build upon the knowledge and experience acquired from previous construction projects to maintain a successful and sustainable development company. Overseeing the finance, marketing and project management teams allows Steve the opportunity to build upon relationships with construction partners and other industry professionals.

John Haugh, Finance Director

John Haugh Finance Director

Formerly, John worked as senior vice president of finance for an international relocation company. John has been overseeing the finance departments for both Quick Move Properties and Spire House Developments since 2004.

John’s role entails overseeing the development finance availability and managing company budgets to ensure funds are available to complete both on time and at the quality specified.

Viv Joachim, HR and Training Director

Before joining Quick Move Properties and Spire in 2005, Viv worked for an international relocation company in departments ranging from new homes and resales to lettings and human resources.
Viv is now HR and Training Director and specialises in recruitment so that the successful expansion of the company can continue.

David Simmons, Project Manager

David Simmons Project Manager

David is responsible for the successful management and progression of both new build and renovation construction projects. This includes everything from land acquisition and development financing to overseeing the off-plan sales process.

Starting out in Quick Move Properties, David moved to Spire House Developments in 2015, having graduated from the University of Bristol achieving an MSc in Management the previous year. David dedicates a lot of his free time to continuous professional development, acquiring qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Project Management and various IT certifications.

Francesca Abbley, Property Development Manager

Francesca Abbley Property Development Manager

Francesca joined Spire in 2016 and has since successfully managed a number of renovation projects. Francesca’s role involves the purchase and refurbishment of properties from a variety of sources.

In addition to managing this area, Francesca also makes the interior design decisions on our New Home developments. This encompasses design layouts, fixtures and fittings and colour schemes – every detail is important to ensure customer satisfaction.

Linda Smith, Office Manager

In addition to managing the day to day running of our head offices in Royal Wootton Bassett to ensure work practises are as efficient as they can be, Linda also supports the Directors in achieving their objectives across all business areas.

Previous work in estate agency and for an international relocation and property management company has made Linda the perfect problem solver. As a result of this, Linda successfully manages the procurement procedures for Spire.

Linda Byron, Completions Manager

Linda’s responsibilities entail managing the property resales on our developments, ensuring they complete in the earliest and smoothest manner possible. Linda has a wealth of legal experience to help in this role and has developed a systematic process for ensuring the relevant milestones are met on time.

Linda has over 18 years in the property environment overall and deals with a range of stakeholders to get the result everyone wants.

Tamsin Duddy, Property Purchase Manager

Tamsin Duddy Property Purchase Manager

Tamsin oversees the property purchase department and has extensive legal experience, having bought in hundreds of properties in her career. This involves everything from Part Exchange offers to working with the team on new site appraisals. It is this skill set that allows us to ensure we offer the best possible prices on both development sites and existing properties.

Tamsin has worked in this area for over 13 years and is a key figure in terms of risk assessment for the company.

James Moore, Finance Assistant

James Moore Finance Assistant

James handles the day to day running of the Spire accounts department. This involves everything from paying suppliers to VAT returns. James also assists our subcontractors on aspects of CIS compliance as well as managing the finance and reporting aspects of the developments.

Coming from a strong accountancy practice background, James is also studying for his CIMA certification and is on his way to becoming a Chartered Management Accountant.

Stuart Bell, Marketing Manager

Stuart Bell Marketing Manager

Before joining Quick Move Properties and Spire, Stuart worked in the Marketing Departments for a variety of companies including a household consumer goods group, a magazine publisher and a mail order seed company.

Stuart currently manages the marketing department for Quick Move Properties and Spire, and oversees the company’s brand and messaging. In addition, Stuart also handles the PR side of the business, ensuring we’re active and engaging on social media with our buyers.
